JUNCTION CAMPUS REDESIGN
Below is a large project that Hayley worked on during the Spring of her junior year. Each student was responsible for designing a total of nine buildings in response to a renovation of college campus.
The objective was to reimagine Texas Tech University’s campus in Junction, Texas. Each student was to renovate the existing dining hall and overall site plan, as well as design new graduate student housing, new office building, conference center, visitor center, a hotel, new classrooms, new laboratories, and an outdoor entertainment pavilion. Students were to implement sustainable design strategies that made each building energy-efficient and beneficial to the surrounding natural environment. The class spent several weeks conducting interviews, producing programming documents, organizing research and determining cost-effectiveness and sustainability through material and furniture selection. Students utilized large sheds over each building to protect from harsh daylight and maximize air circulation.
